Fiji Airways takes delivery of first A350

New aircraft features BULA SPACE seating

Fiji Airways has accepted delivery of the first of two brand-new A350 XWB aircraft from aircraft manufacturer Airbus via a lease agreement with DAE Capital.

The Nadi-based carrier is the first airline in the South Pacific to operate the wide-body aircraft type, which will deliver new levels of fuel efficiency. Fiji Airways will operate the A350 on the Nadi-Los Angeles and Sydney routes.

Inside the Fiji Airways A350-900’s cabin are: Rajesh Punja, Chairman of the Board of Fiji Airways; Andres Viljoen, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fiji Airways; The Honourable Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Fiji's Attorney General and Minister responsible for Civil Aviation; Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer; Dave Houlihan, President of DAE CAPITAL; Jacqueline Sutton - Senior Vice President - Rolls-Royce

Fiji Airways has configured the carbon-fibre composite jets with a two-class configuration, featuring 334 seats including 33 lie-flat Business and 301 Economy class seats, 39 of which are designated as BULA SPACE seats with extra legroom. Seatbacks are set up with Thales in-flight high-definition entertainment systems.

Fiji Airways currently operates a fleet of six A330 Family and will benefit from the common type rating with the A350 XWB which allows pilots and crews to operate on both aircraft types.
