After a five-year hiatus, United Airlines will resume services out of New York’s JFK airport from 1 February, 2021, offering nonstop flights to the West Coast.

The Star Alliance member carrier has its primary hub in New York at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey. It also operates to New York’s LaGuardia Airport in Queens.

UA says the addition of JFK is a “continuation of aggressively and strategically managing the impact of COVID-19 by increasing service to and from the places where customers want to fly”.

This month, fellow Star Alliance member carrier Singapore Airlines resumed services to New York, also relocating to JFK from its long-standing hub at Newark.

United will serve routes from JFK to both Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport, with two round-trips for each west coast city. The flights will utilise the reconfigured Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on the routes, offering customers an extended premium cabin featuring 16 additional business-class seats which bring the total premium cabin seat count to 46.

The 767-300ER will also feature 22 United Premium Plus seats, 47 Economy Plus seats and 52 Economy seats.

The new JFK service will operate out of Terminal 7.
