Bookings are now open for American Airlines’ new Flagship Suites aboard its two new Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which will make their international debut on the Chicago to London Heathrow route on 5 June.
They will be deployed on the Philadelphia-London Heathrow route from 6 August, followed by Philadelphia to Zurich from 3 September and then Dallas Fort Worth to Brisbane, Australia from 26 October.
AA welcomed the wide-body aircraft to its Dallas-Fort Worth hub earlier this week. In total, it expects 30 of the Boeing 787-9s to join its fleet by 2029 as part of a broader investment aimed at growing its lie-flat and Premium Economy seat offerings by 50% over the next five years.
The new aircraft each feature 51 Flagship Suites. The airline is confident the aircraft’s premium offering will transform the long-haul flight experience with privacy doors, personal storage complete with wireless charging, and a distinctive seat design with adjustable headrest pillow.
“Every aspect of our new 787-9 is designed to feel premium in nature,” AA’s Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden said. “Whether flying for business or pleasure, having the opportunity to explore other parts of the world should be an exciting and memorable experience that begins the moment you book your flight, long before you reach your final destination.”

Customers flying in these seats will also enjoy a host of elite benefits, including priority check-in, expedited security and boarding, priority baggage handling, and exclusive access to American’s Flagship lounges.
Once onboard, the Flagship Suite inflight experience features a multicourse dining menu perfectly complemented by a selection of award-winning wines. Premium amenity kits, a soft duvet blanket and a dual-sided pillow round out the “elevated” service.
The new 787-9 will also include 32 Premium Economy seats with contoured headrest wings designed for greater privacy.
Looking ahead, Flagship Suite seats will also be featured on all newly delivered Boeing 787-9s, Airbus A321XLR aircraft, and retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER planes.
