Families will soon have the chance to experience a Nile River cruise with G Adventures and National Geographic Expeditions, as the pair announced the launch of a new nine-day Egypt itinerary.

The trip is one of two new ‘National Geographic Family Journeys with G Adventures’ itineraries, marking the first time Egypt and Portugal have been included in the family-focused series.

“We’re celebrating 10 years of collaboration with our friends at National Geographic Expeditions and are delighted to be embarking on another ten-year journey of adventures together,” G Adventures CEO Ben Perlo said.

“These new trips not only allow travellers to visit some of the world’s most culturally rich and diverse regions of the world, while opening the door to meaningful exploration, where travellers can spend time with and positively impact local communities, while creating life-long memories with loved ones,” Perlo adds.

The new Egypt itinerary promises to take families beyond the typical tourist trail, blending exploration with education. From “towering pyramids” to “historic temples”, each of these ancient wonders will be explained to families by their expert guides in order to ignite curiosity in travellers of all ages.

The cruise element of the journey is a three-night voyage between Aswan to Luxor, visiting Kom Ombo, Edfu and Esna, operated by the 117-room Crown Emperor – a four-star, family-friendly ship that features a large top-deck pool.

Both new family journeys are set to begin in April 2026 and are specially crafted for multigenerational groups seeking shared adventures.

The Nile itinerary forms part of a wider expansion of the National Geographic Expeditions with G Adventures portfolio, which now includes 106 trips across 59 destinations. Alongside the Egypt and Portugal family journeys, 12 new ‘National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures’ trips are also launching, with exciting destinations such as China, South Korea, the Balkans, and Mexico’s Day of the Dead festival.
