This week LATTE has joined a small group of travel advisors sailing through Southern Australia as a guest aboard Silversea’s ultra-luxury ocean ship, Silver Moon.
Launched in 2021, Silver Moon is the third Muse Class ship in the Silversea fleet and is in Australian waters for the first time this summer.
Silver Moon is operating a series of Trans Tasman sailings in her inaugural season Down Under, alongside Silver Nova which is back in local waters for a second season.
With a capacity of 596 passengers, the all-suite Silver Moon features Silversea’s S.A.L.T. program for immersive regional culinary experiences, comprised of the S.A.L.T. Kitchen, Bar and Lab – all of which LATTE and our travel advisor friends (and their plus ones) are becoming intimately familiar with.

The culinary program connects guests to the essence of each destination through cuisine, expert-led classes, and destination-based gastronomic experiences. On this journey, we joined the S.A.L.T. Kitchen Head Chef aboard Silver Moon for a cooking class in the S.A.L.T. Lab, where we prepared Barramundi San Choy Bow in the state-of-the-art kitchen.
The S.A.L.T. program is also offered aboard Silver Dawn, Silver Nova, Silver Ray, and was recently retrofitted to Silver Muse.
While S.A.L.T. is the latest culinary experience offered by Silversea, Silver Moon has other staple dining options for guests, including Atlantide, Kaiseki, La Terrazza, The Grill and La Dame. Other options include the Art Cafe and Spaccanapoli which serves a diverse menu of pizzas throughout the day.
Our journey commenced on Saturday in Melbourne and has included a day at sea sailing across Bass Strait and hugging the coast of Victoria and South Australia, en route to Adelaide. The day enabled us and guests to understand the lay of the land aboard the ultra-luxury ship, which is a sister-ship of Silver Muse (launched in 2017 and refreshed late last year) and Silver Dawn (launched in 2022).
A full-day at Adelaide enabled guests to explore the South Australian capital, the Adelaide Hills, wildlife parks and some of the many vineyards and cellar doors that the region offers, or, remain onboard and sample spa treatments on offer at Zagara Beauty Spa, or simply relax by the pool.

The following day was spent at Kangaroo Island, with Silver Moon dropping anchor off the port town of Penneshaw, and guests able to join organised shore excursions that unlocked Seal Bay, Kingscote, the Northern Beaches and Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, or take a self-guided tour of the township.
We’re now currently making our way to Hobart, with two days at sea offering plenty of opportunities to spot whales, dolphins, seals and birdlife.
