Etihad has launched the first and only nonstop service between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi, marking a major milestone for both the airline and the Grand Duchy.

Flights are set to commence on 29 October 2026, with three weekly services operated by Etihad’s state-of-the-art Airbus A321LR.

The new route makes Etihad the first airline from the Middle East to serve Luxembourg and the only carrier to offer a direct air link between Luxembourg and the UAE capital. According to the airline, the service is designed to meet growing demand from travellers across Luxembourg as well as neighbouring Belgium, France and Germany, providing direct access to Abu Dhabi and onward connections across Etihad’s global network.

The A321LR service will feature a three-class configuration, including First Suites and lie-flat Business seats with direct aisle access. Economy passengers will benefit from next-generation seating with generous legroom, 4K touchscreen entertainment, Bluetooth connectivity and high-speed Wi-Fi available throughout the aircraft.

“We are delighted to announce this landmark route, made possible by the launch of the A321LR last year. This incredible aircraft brings our guests a truly premium experience while allowing us to cater to markets which may otherwise be unserved. For the first time, Luxembourg will be directly connected to the Middle East, with Etihad as the only airline offering a nonstop link to Abu Dhabi,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways.

“This route is about more than connectivity – it is about building new bridges between Europe and the UAE, unlocking opportunities for business, tourism and cultural exchange.”

The service is expected to appeal to both business and leisure travellers. Business passengers will benefit from convenient schedules between one of Europe’s key financial centres and the UAE capital, while leisure travellers will gain direct access to Abu Dhabi’s world-class attractions. These include the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Yas Island’s entertainment offerings and new cultural landmarks such as the Zayed National Museum and Natural History Museum.

From Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, guests will also enjoy onward connections to destinations across Asia, including Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and India. At the same time, travellers from the Middle East and beyond will gain easier access to Luxembourg, known for its UNESCO-listed Old Town, historic castles and picturesque landscapes.

The announcement represents the latest phase in Etihad’s ongoing expansion across Europe, with Luxembourg becoming the latest addition to its growing network.
