Hyperbaric oxygen and hydrogen therapies are among the cutting edge wellness treatments on offer at the newly opened Patina Osaka.

The hotel represents the luxury brand’s second property after Patina Maldives and first urban outpost, marking a major milestone for parent company Capella Hotel Group.

“We’re proud to offer a space where curious travellers can connect through meaningful, mindful experiences,” Capella President Cristiano Rinaldi said.

Patina Osaka aims to redefine urban hospitality in Japan with a pioneering blend of cutting-edge wellness technology, contemporary design, and cultural features. Located between Osaka Castle and Naniwanomiya Park, the 20-storey sanctuary offers 221 rooms and suites, each designed to reflect kisetsukan – the Japanese concept of “seasonal awareness”.

The wellness innovations on offer are rarely seen in Japanese hospitality. In addition to the hyperbaric oxygen and hydrogen therapies are cryotherapy and infrared heat treatments, all set within the 1,400-square-metre spa.

Dining is an equal focus with signature restaurant P72 showcasing Japan’s 72 micro-seasons through sustainable, sensory-rich cuisine crafted with local ingredients.

Art and design are also central to the Patina experience. Collaborations with leading creatives such as Japanese artist Verdy and sound designer Devon Turnbull of OJAS have led to the creation of immersive spaces like The Listening Room.

General Manager Ellen Franke highlighted the hotel’s mission of transformation. “Through our Perpetual Journey philosophy, guests are invited to grow, reflect, and connect,” she said.

The new hotel launches at a pivotal moment, according to Capella, with Japan poised for a tourism boom leading into Expo 2025.
