After a decade-long absence, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has marked its return to the Asian side of Turkey with the launch of a new rail journey that spans continents, reconnecting Europe with Anatolia aboard the Golden Eagle Danube Express.

The Aurelian Odyssey begins in Paris before taking in the romance of Champagne and the imperial grandeur of Vienna. The route then continues through Postojna, Belgrade and Sofia before crossing into Istanbul — the historic gateway between East and West. From there, the journey ventures deeper into Turkey, travelling onward to Izmir, the ancient ruins of Ephesus, and Denizli, home to Hierapolis and Laodicea, before concluding in Ankara and the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia.

According to Golden Eagle, each destination has been carefully selected to showcase ancient civilisations, dramatic scenery and vibrant modern culture, at an unhurried pace that allows guests to fully absorb the journey.

“From the romance of France to the grandeur of Central Europe, from the minarets of Istanbul to the sculpted valleys of Cappadocia, the Aurelian Odyssey is a journey through civilisations – Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman – woven together into one extraordinary experience,” it said.

On board, the Golden Eagle Danube Express delivers its signature standards of service, comfort and gastronomy. Elegant cabins, attentive hosts and fine dining transform the train itself into a refined sanctuary, ensuring the journey is as memorable as the destinations it connects.

The Aurelian Odyssey takes place from 12 to 25 September 2026 and is priced from €28,000 per person.
