Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has unveiled plans for a brand-new six-day journey across Italy, from Taormina to Venice aboard the Golden Eagle Danube Express, departing on 7 September 2027. The ‘Taste of Italy’ tour will include stops in Ragusa, Palermo, Maratea and Verona.
Interestingly, the Italian journey seemingly competes with similar journeys offered aboard the ultra-luxury La Dolce Vita Orient Express, which operates exclusively in Italy and is owned by Arsenale Group, the same business that acquired Golden Eagle Luxury Trains last year.

The shorter-than-normal Golden Eagle Luxury Train itinerary has been “designed for those seeking a shorter escape without compromising on culture, scenery or indulgence,” the company said. Highlights will include landscapes of Mount Etna, late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto, as well as Venice and its Lagoon.
“Ideal for travellers with limited time, this carefully curated itinerary offers a seamless way to experience Italy’s rich contrasts in just under a week — combining historic cities, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, exquisite cuisine, and relaxed luxury throughout,” the luxury train operator says.
The Taste of Italy itinerary will also feature “carefully curated culinary moments”, such as vineyard lunches and Sicilian wine tastings near Mount Etna, hands-on cooking demonstration and a pizza-making experience.

The six-day trip is priced at €14,000 per person twin share (approx AU$24,500 per person twin share). Golden Eagle also notes that the itinerary is available for private charter, “perfect for corporate events, private celebrations, or bespoke group travel”.

This journey complements Golden Eagles’ 12-day Sicilian Odyssey from Venice to Taormina, which departs on 27 August 2027 and includes a week aboard the Golden Eagle Danube Express. This itinerary, based on Deluxe Class is €27,000 per person (approx AU$47,000) or based on Superior Deluxe Class, €34,900 (approx AU$60,750).
