American Express opened its 12th Centurion Lounge on Monday 9 March with the debut of a new facility at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Located at Tom Bradley International Terminal and at 1,300-square-metre, the lounge is American Express’ largest yet, available to screened passengers travelling through Terminals 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Qatar Airways has opened a new Premium Lounge within Terminal 1 at Singapore Changi Airport, featuring an ultra luxurious interior and enhanced offerings. The new Premium Lounge is inspired by modern-day Arabic architecture, reflecting Qatar Airways’ heritage, and aims to narrow the gap between Business and First class lounges.

United Airlines has unveiled the newest addition to its network of United Club locations with the opening of a brand-new 557-square-metre United Club at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

Delta Air Lines and LATAM Airlines Group (LATAM) have reached an agreement to launch frequent-flyer reciprocity across their broad networks, offering customer benefits across more than 435 destinations worldwide. Additionally, the carriers continue to expand codesharing across more flights throughout the region, adding expanded connectivity for customers.

Oneworld has announced that Alaska Airlines intends to join the alliance by summer 2021. The partnership comes as the US carrier plans to form a US West Coast international alliance with oneworld founding member American Airlines.

Virgin Atlantic has announced it will recommence flights between London Heathrow and Cape Town, effective 25 October 2020. The English airline withdrew from the South African city six years ago as part of a network shuffle focused on transAtlantic routes.

Etihad Airways has revealed plans to introduce a new “TravelPass” that will enable the airline’s frequent guests “complete flexibility and ease with their regular and recurring travel arrangements”.

A new aviation partnership between Air France, KLM, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic is about to kick into gear this month, opening up more destinations and ways for customers to earn and spend frequent flyer points.

LATAM Airlines Group will disengage from participation with the oneworld airline alliance effective 1 May 2020. Up to and including 30 April 2020, there will be no change to the reciprocal benefits offered on all oneworld member flights*. To continue providing broad and seamless connectivity for customers, LATAM will maintain bilateral agreements, network access and customer benefits with the majority of oneworld members.

Plaza Premium Group has expanded its presence in the Middle East with the launch of a new 1,260-square-metre facility at Terminal 3, Dubai International Airport.  The Plaza Premium Lounge Dubai has a capacity of 300 guests and offers special features including private family suites, a playroom, “first-class” enclosed napping space and a cigar lounge.

Oneworld member airlines British Airways (BA) and Qatar Airways (QR) have sought approval from the Australian competition regulator to coordinate air services on nine offline routes between Australia and the United Kingdom.

Singapore Airlines achieved the highest customer satisfaction rating among international airlines operating to and from Australia during the month of November, according to the latest Roy Morgan research.
