Nominations for the 2019 AFTA National Travel Industry Awards are now open.The AFTA NTIA celebrates and rewards excellence in the Australian travel industry through a process which includes nominating, voting or a written submission and judging candidates by an independent panel, culminating in the announcement of the winners at a Gala Awards Dinner.

Four new award Categories have been announced for the 2019 NTIAs. Under a partnership with the Council of Australian Tour Operators, The CATO Awards will go to the Consultant of the Year in the fields of Group Touring, Adventure, Ski and Independent Travel.

MTA – Mobile Travel Agents this week unveiled to its home-based travel consultants a new in-house online accreditation program called ‘MTA Professional Plus’. Three years in the making, the program has been designed to create a new level of professionalism, dovetailing in with calls made in 2014 by the Australian Federation of Travel Agents to improve the standard of learning of face-to-face consulting.

Research commissioned by the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) and conducted by FiftyFive5, a global research agency has revealed that awareness of ATAS (AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme) drives usage, influencing where a consumer books their travel.

The Australian travel industry came together in Sydney on Saturday 22 July 2018 for the trade’s annual ‘night of nights’ at the International Convention Centre Sydney.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents advised this week of the voluntary withdrawal of Luxury Escapes from the AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS), effective 1 July 2018.

The People’s Choice Campaign was delivered through a dedicated consumer program in which consumers were asked to vote for their favourite ATAS retail travel agency.
