Aman has earmarked a 2023 opening for an all-season retreat on the slopes of Japan’s Mt Moiwa in Hokkaido’s Niseko region. The 30-room ultra-luxury Aman Niseko will feature extensive wellness facilities and a number of restaurants on an expansive 187-hectare site.

Amanyangyun, 45 minutes’ drive from the centre of Shanghai, is unique for many reasons. Other properties are converted from traditional houses. Amanfayun, near Hangzhou, is a re-use of an entire one-street village. Its houses, now individual villas, are still surrounded by tea plantations. But Amanyangyun all began because an entrepreneurial developer, Ma Dadong, then only 26, was so appalled that villages in Fuzhou were being completely submerged by a forthcoming dam that he bought 13 of their traditional stone mansions. Each is 300-500 years old, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Amangiri has drawn travellers to Utah’s landscape of deep canyons and vermillion rock formations for a decade. To celebrate its 10 year anniversary, the resort has revealed its Camp Sarika experience, set to open in April 2020. Deriving its name from the Sanskrit word for “open space” and “sky”, Camp Sarika will be set on more than 55 hectares, overlooking iconic flat-topped mesa rock formations. The 10 tented pavilions are complemented by a common pavilion and restaurant, two spa suites, a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. A 30-minute hike or five-minute drive from Amangiri, the camp is the perfect escape for guests looking for solitude, privacy and reflection.

Luxury hospitality company Aman is expanding its service beyond resorts and retreats in remote destinations to the skies with the launch of a new private jet operation. Aman Private Jet is an airborne extension of the Aman resort philosophy.

At the foot of sacred Mount Phousi, sits the UNESCO-protected Luang Prabang, Laos, home to Amantaka, Aman’s opulent oasis.
