Peregrine Adventures this week unveiled new expeditions to Antarctica that will benefit both travellers and the environment.

Silversea Cruises has revealed plans for a second extensive refurbishment of Silver Wind, completing the major refurbishment project started in December 2018. The second dry dock period, which is scheduled for summer 2020, will give the ship ice-class classification and improved cruising versatility, as well as a number of improvements to the vessel’s interior. As a result, Silver Wind will unlock a broader range of deep travel experiences for guests in ultimate comfort, cruising both classic and expedition itineraries.

Intrepid Group and Chimu Adventures have revealed a new program of sustainable small-group polar expeditions with “five-star touches”, operated by the joint venture partners under the Peregrine Adventures flag.

Following her inaugural season voyaging the Arctic in 2020, National Geographic Endurance will depart on a new and unique itinerary that explores the seventh continent with two departures only. The voyage will explore where few humans have been before and will discover four stunning wilderness regions, from the Peninsula to the Ross Sea and New Zealand’s Sub-Antarctic Islands.

Ahead of the Antarctica season, 12 members of Silversea’s Expedition Team spent four days at pre-season training in the Chilean Andes. Between 29 October and 3 November, the team of expedition specialists undertook a number of educational activities, building on their existing skillsets and enabling them to enrich the offering for Silversea’s guests. In its 10th season of deep travel in Antarctica, the cruise line is investing heavily in the training and development of its knowledgeable Expedition Team.

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has released three new Scenic Eclipse destination brochures, showcasing the ocean explorations in Europe and The Americas, Antarctica and the Arctic Fjords and Baltic regions, along with land-cruise combinations.

Abercrombie & Kent advises that due to a late group cancellation, there is now limited availability on the December 2018 departure of the luxury travel company’s Classic Antarctica Expedition to the centrepiece of the Southern Hemisphere.

To celebrate PONANT’s 30th year of operation, the cruise line is offering a promotion to travel agents in Australia and New Zealand on new bookings made for the Kimberley in 2019 and Antarctica in 2018-2020, from now until 31 July 2018.
