Aurora Expeditions has confirmed an agreement with shipbuilder Sunstone to build a second X-Bow expedition ship, for delivery in spring 2021. Plans for the second ship were revealed earlier this year by Aurora’s Managing Director Robert Halfpenny earlier this year. 

SunStone Ships’ first polar expedition vessel within its INFINITY series was officially launched at the China Merchants Heavy Industry yard in China yesterday [12 March, 2019].

Australia’s Aurora Expeditions has confirmed the founder and well-known Australian explorer and mountaineer, Greg Mortimer OAM, will be the expedition leader aboard the maiden voyage of Aurora Expeditions’ new ship, the Greg Mortimer, departing Ushuaia, Argentina on 31 October, 2019.

Expedition cruising company, Aurora Expeditions, has unveiled plans to operate in a range of all-new destinations including Latin America, Caribbean Coast, Iceland, Greenland and East Coast Canada.

At just 104 metres long, and eight decks high, the ship is named after the Aussie mountaineer and Aurora Expeditions co-founder. It’ll carry only 120 passengers to the polar regions in luxury and style.
