First delivery comes as VN signs two-way codeshare deal with Delta Air Lines
Vietnam Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner under a lease arrangement with Air Lease Corporation. The first of eight 787-10s for the SkyTeam member carrier will be deployed on the Vietnamese flag carrier’s busiest routes in its expanding network.

Antitrust immunity authorised by Trump Administration
The US Government has rubber stamped the proposed joint business agreement between Qantas and American Airlines, paving the way for the start of the flagged new non-stop flight routes across the Pacific between Brisbane and both Chicago and San Francisco. The decision follows draft approval from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) last month.

Air New Zealand has committed to the purchase of eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft. The -10 fitted with General Electric engines will be delivered from late 2022 through to 2027, and complements Air New Zealand’s existing fleet of 13 787-9 Dreamliners. The larger variation has capacity for an additional 40 seats.

New route for Australian carrier’s next wave of 787-9 deliveries
Qantas will introduce its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the Sydney-San Francisco route from 4 December. The move coincides with the delivery of Qantas’ next six Dreamliners which will replace ageing Boeing 747 aircraft over the next 18 months.

German carrier turns to 787-9 and A350-900 for long-haul flights
Lufthansa Group’s Supervisory Board has approved the purchase of a total of 40 state-of-the-art aircraft for the group’s airlines. The 20 Boeing 787-9 and 20 additional Airbus A350-900 planes will primarily be replacing four-engine aircraft. The new planes will be delivered between late 2022 and 2027.

787-9 handed over in North Charleston
Air Tahiti Nui celebrated the delivery of the airline’s first 787-9 Dreamliner, via lease from ALC, last weekend. This is the first Boeing airplane to join the Tahitian airline, which plans to use the longest-range Dreamliner to replace its ageing Airbus A340s and connect its home base in the South Pacific with world capitals such as Paris, Tokyo and Los Angeles.

Coast-to-coast capacity increase using larger Dreamliner
United Airlines this week announced enhancements to its transcontinental service in the USA, offering customers more flights and more seats between New York/Newark and Los Angeles and San Francisco. Beginning 7 January, 2019, United will be the first North American airline to operate the Boeing 787-10, the newest aircraft in the Dreamliner family, on select transcontinental flights.
