Hurtigruten announces the release of sustainable expedition cruises around the British and Scottish Isles.

Hurtigruten staff were among the select group of passengers on the MS Fridtjof Nansen last week as the second hybrid-battery-powered ship prepared for its first official voyage over the weekend.

The first official pre-inaugural voyage for Hurtigruten’s new hybrid powered expedition ship, MS Fridtjof Nansen, kicks off this week with a six-day sailing from London to Liverpool, departing London’s cruise terminal on Saturday [7 March 2020].

Hurtigruten’s battery hybrid powered expedition cruise ship MS Roald Amundsen has made history, exploring waters further south than any Hurtigruten ship has ever been in the Norwegian expedition cruise line’s 127 years of history.

Hurtigruten has made maritime history with its new ship, MS Roald Amundsen, operating wholly under battery power for the first time. The expedition ship operated silently and emission free off the west coast of Norway ahead of her maiden passenger cruise in coming days.

In 2019 and 2020 Hurtigruten, the world’s largest expedition cruise line, will expand its business in the Asia-Pacific region substantially, building an Australia sales, marketing and operations team.
