Qatar Airways has revealed this week at the Kuwait Aviation Show that it will be adding eight additional destinations to its network in 2020: Nur-Sultan and Almaty, Kazakhstan; Cebu, Philippines; Accra, Ghana; Trabzon, Turkey; Luanda, Angola; Lyon, France and Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Qatar Airways’ passengers will be able to access a handful of new destinations in German via a codeshare partnership that has been struck with with Deutsche Bahn.

Qatar Airways is ramping up its Mediterranean network, adding two new destinations in the first half of 2020. The Doha-based carrier will also add 66 weekly frequencies to 20 existing destinations in its network due to strong market demand and the recent deliveries of more fuel-efficient aircraft.

On 5 December, Qatar Airways celebrated its 10-year anniversary since they first launched in the Australian market. To mark the milestone, the airline hosted a pop-up restaurant in Melbourne, with a specially curated menu to showcase local Australian produce. Qatar Airways first launched in Australia in 2009, offering flights three times a week from Melbourne to Doha, Qatar. The airline now operates 35 flights per week to and from Australia with flights from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra. On a daily basis, the airline averages over 1,700 passengers each way between Australia and Doha, with London and Athens being the top destinations for Australian passengers.

Qatar Airways’ frequent flyer programme Privilege Club, is now offering Platinum members access to Doha Hamad International Airport’s (HIA) exclusive Al Safwa First Class Lounge when flying Business Class. Entry provides up to two guest passes.

Qatar Airways officially launched its award-winning Qsuite Business Class for Adelaide. Passengers can now experience Qsuite when travelling between Adelaide and 160 destinations worldwide, including over 55 European cities.

Qatar Executive, the private jet charter division of Qatar Airways Group, has revealed plans to open new offices in Shanghai, China; Moscow, Russia and London, United Kingdom later this year, as well as receiving two new additional certifications.

Qatar Airways has launched a new line of luxurious amenity kits for passengers in its First Class and Business Class cabins. Created by BRIC, the new amenity kits will be distributed to passengers in First and Business Class on long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights.

Qatar Airways has announced a range of upgrades to the customer experience on the Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide route. The Doha-based airline will introduce the new state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000 once-daily on its Canberra-Sydney-Doha route, effective 27 October 2019. The afternoon A350-1000 flight (from Canberra/Sydney) will compliment Qatar Airways’ existing A380 evening service between Sydney and Doha.

Qatar Airways will increase the number of weekly flights on its popular routes to South Africa from July 2019.
