Silversea’s destination-specific ship Silver Origin has floated out of the De Hoop shipyard in Lobith, the Netherlands. The all-suite, 100-guest ship touched water for the first time on 30 December 2019.

2020 heralds the arrival of a further fleet of new luxury ocean ships, including two newcomers to cruising, Virgin Voyages and The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

To safeguard the wellbeing of the Galapagos Islands for future generations, Silversea Cruises has launched a dedicated fund that will preserve the natural wonders of the archipelago. By supporting a diverse selection of projects each year, the Silversea Fund will strengthen the balance between humans and nature in the Galapagos as part of a long-term conservation strategy.

Starting on 16 July 2019, travellers will be able to reserve suites aboard Silversea’s new ship, Silver Origin, which has been designed entirely with the Galapagos Islands. The all-suite, 100-guest Silver Origin will embark on her maiden voyage in July 2020, unlocking the authentic beauty of the Galapagos by connecting guests with the destination through immersive experiences.

Silversea Cruises this week gave us a long-awaited preview of the first ship of a new flotilla that will be joining the ultra-luxury cruise line’s over coming years. Silver Origin will enter service in around 14 months in the Galapagos. It will be joined by two new Silversea Evolution Class ships and three new expedition vessels.

One of the most environmentally friendly cruise ships ever and designed entirely with these unique islands in mind, Silver Origin will combine Silversea’s local destination expertise with the cruise line’s trademark level of luxury to offer guests the ultimate destination experience.

Ultra-luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises has gone forward with plans to expand its fleet, inking a Memorandum of Understanding with shipbuilder Meyer Werft to build two ‘Evolution Class’ ships and signing a contract with Shipyard De Hoop to construct a new 100-guest expedition vessel to be called Silver Origin.
