Royal Caribbean Group has announced the shock departure of Barbara Muckermann from the group after 14 years with Silversea, the past 14 months as the ultra-luxury cruise line’s President. Muckermann’s departure to “pursue other opportunities” is effective immediately.

Les Roches and Silversea have signed an agreement to pioneer a groundbreaking field of study. The first of its kind, this innovative program – offered at Les Roches campus in Marbella, Spain – provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage and oversee various onboard areas of cruise vessels, in addition to aspects of marketing, revenue management, and other commercial functions pertaining to the cruise industry.

Silversea is now offering straight-out, cruise-only fares, expanding its pricing structure to three options. The ultra-luxury cruise line says the move provides guests with “varied preferences”.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA)’s Board of Directors has named Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty as Chairman. Liberty succeeds Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises S.A. who served in the role since January 2021.
