Swan Hellenic will name its second of three new polar expedition ships SH Vega.

FIRST LOOK: Swan Hellenic and Tillberg Design of Sweden have released a virtual tour video unveiling what the adventurous and creative-minded can look forward to in the five-star cultural expedition cruise ships currently being built at Helsinki Shipyard.

Swan Hellenic has inked a deal with Helsinki Shipyard for the order of a third Vega Class expedition cruise vessel, to be delivered in late 2022.

After revealing its rebirth in late July, Swan Hellenic held a keel-laying ceremony for the first of two new ice-class expedition cruise ships in Helsinki last week. The event saw the first 347-tonne block of the ship – newly arrived from Klaipeda, Lithuania where it had been outfitted and painted – being set on the keel over coins to bring good luck in accordance with ancient maritime custom.

The expedition cruise market will have another player from 2021 when Swan Hellenic returns to operation three years after going bankrupt.
