Tourism Fiji’s annual Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) kicked off at the Sheraton Fiji Resort, Denarau on Tuesday 21 May 2019. The two-day expo officially opened on Wednesday night at 6pm with a welcome event at the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa’s newly expanded Waitui Beach Club.

This week, LATTE chats exclusively with Tourism Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Stoeckel. Prior to his appointment to steer Fiji’s tourism organisation in July 2016, Stoeckel had been with Destination NSW for two years and spent several years prior as a consultant with TRC Tourism and Hyder Consulting.

Tourism Fiji has this week hosted suppliers at the 2018 Boutique Luxury Roadshow in Australia. Spread across four cities, the roadshow kicked off on Monday in Brisbane, before moving on to Sydney (23 October), Melbourne (24 October) and Adelaide (25 October).

A cluster of newbuild upmarket resort openings in Fiji over the past 18 months has contributed significantly to the South Pacific holiday hotspot being viewed by Australians as more than a family-friendly destination, but a location for a luxurious getaway, according to Tourism Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Stoeckel.
