Viking Cruises is launching a series of trade training emails for agents to learn more about Viking Expeditions.

Viking has cemented plans for the launch of US river cruising, opening sales to past passengers this week for its new Mississippi River program commencing August 2022.

Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen has announced the cruise line will temporarily suspend both its river and ocean cruise programs in direct response to the coronavirus COVID-19 situation gripping the world.

In September 2022, Viking will offer a unique 44-day itinerary that sails from Tromsø, Norway in the Arctic Circle through to Whalers Bay, at the opposite end of the earth on the Antarctic Peninsula. The cruise was revealed in the newly rolled-out Viking Expedition Cruises’ brochure, which showcases Antarctica, The Arctic, Great Lakes of North America and the Galapagos Islands – uncovered first by LATTE.

Viking will hold a series of dedicated travel-agent-only Information Sessions showcasing the brand new Viking Expeditions product, designed to provide travel partners with the information and tools they need to sell voyages to the ends of the earth when Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris launch in 2022.

Members of Viking’s loyalty program have been given a sneak-peek and early booking access to the cruise company’s next destination: South America’s Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu.

Viking has released its 2021 River Cruise brochure, featuring itineraries sailing the rivers of Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Asia and Egypt, as well as details on Viking’s brand-new ship, new itineraries, shore excursions and two new pre/post-cruise extensions.

Cruisers are seeking far-flung, pristine destinations in 2020, driven by a desire for immersion in each location, according to global luxury travel network Virtuoso. The network recently unveiled its cruise trends for the year in time for ‘wave season,’ occurring January through March, when savvy travellers book voyages to benefit from special incentives.

Viking has confirmed a launch date of January 2022 for the first ship of its new expedition division, with voyages planned for Antarctica and North America’s Great Lakes. Viking Octantis will embark on explorations in the US states of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin and Ontario, Canada, ahead of the second ship, Viking Polaris, which will offer voyages to Antarctica and the Arctic from August 2022.

Viking has opened bookings and revealed deployment details of a selection of ocean ships between September 2021 and May 2022, including the return of Viking Orion to her seasonal Sydney and Auckland home ports between December 2021 and March 2022 – her fourth consecutive season based down under.

Viking has concluded its biggest ever Viking Vör trade training roadshow, hosting more than 1,100 agents at 15 entertaining evening events around the country, including brand-new destinations like the Central Coast in NSW, Mornington Peninsula in Victoria and Launceston in Tasmania.
