Six new river/ocean combination cruises have been announced by Viking for 2021, offering a unique opportunity to explore Europe’s legendary rivers on a Viking Longship before seamlessly transferring to one of Viking’s state of the art ocean ships to discover Scandinavia.

Viking has launched a travel advisor survey, seeking feedback to a simply questionnaire, with the feedback provideed to help the cruise line best serve the travel trade community in Australia and New Zealand. By participating travel agents can win one of five $100 Visa gift cards or a slice of 10,000 Rewards Points.

Viking’s seventh ocean ship, Viking Venus, will join its fleet in early 2021, further solidifying the company’s standing as the world’s largest small-ship ocean cruise line.

Viking hosted a 50 select travel partners in each state for an advanced screening of the new Downton Abbey feature film this week, including a preview in Sydney on Sunday [8 September, 2019] that was ahead of the global premiere in London. Events were also held in Melbourne and Brisbane.

Viking has unveiled a new three-night cruise extension in Switzerland’s stunning Lucerne region, allowing guests to experience the Viking Difference while enjoying the Alpine Backdrops of Lake Lucerne.

Viking will introduce a four new Viking Seine River Ships in 2020, offering a smaller guest capacity experience on its eight-day Paris & The Heart of Normandy itinerary on the Seine River. Expanding its current France river cruise fleet will be purpose-built, 168-passenger ships – Viking Kari, Viking Radgrid, Viking Skaga and Viking Fjorgyn.

Bookings for 2021 departures of Viking’s Pharaohs and Pyramids sailing are now open. 

Viking has announced it will add a new river ship in Egypt in September next year as the company prepares to expand its program.

Viking has released a number of new 2021 departure dates for some of its most popular ocean cruise itineraries, including those that cover northern Europe, the Mediterranean and Alaska.

Viking this week signed a memorandum of understanding with China Merchants Shekou, representing China Merchants Group, to form a joint venture focused on building a cruise line with worldwide cruise offerings for the Chinese cruise market.

Viking has this week welcomed the latest additions to its river fleet, with the naming of seven new river ships during a celebration on the Rhine River in Basel, Switzerland. Of the seven ships, six are Viking Longships – Viking Einar, Viking Sigrun, Viking Sigyn, Viking Tir, Viking Ullur and Viking Vali – which will be deployed on Viking’s most popular itineraries on the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers. The seventh new ship – Viking Helgrim – was inspired by the Longships design and built specifically for the Douro River, bringing the company’s total number of sister ships in Portugal to four.
