An exclusive at-sea production of the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical Come from Away aboard Cunard‘s Queen Elizabeth will mark the first time the show will be performed aboard a cruise ship.

The special staging will take place during Queen Elizabeth’s maiden Caribbean voyage on 16 October 2025.

The musical, written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, is based on the true story of 6,579 air passengers grounded in Gander, Newfoundland following the events of 9/11 and the small town’s hospitality toward the stranded travellers.

“We are very excited to bring Come from Away to Queen Elizabeth for her maiden Caribbean season,” said Katie McAlister, President of Cunard. “It’s a show that resonates deeply with audiences, celebrating compassion and connection – values that we share at Cunard.”

To be performed twice during each voyage in the Royal Court Theatre – with both matinee and evening showings – this sea-bound production has been reimagined specifically for life onboard. It will feature one hour and 40 minutes of storytelling, music, and an ensemble of 12 stage performers.

“Our long-standing affiliation with London’s West End and Broadway in New York ensures that unparalleled entertainment is at the heart of the Cunard experience,” McAlister added. “Our 2026 Entertainment Residencies will build on this commitment, offering our guests unforgettable access to the very best live performances at sea.”

John Brant, Producer of Come from Away, underscored the show’s ongoing relevance, as it marks its 10th anniversary. “Even after ten years, it’s still incredible to see the impact this show has on people,” he said. “Now more than ever, we believe it’s important to gather friends and family to see it together, with the hope that it inspires them to find common ground in their lives.”
